This diploma thesis describes possibilities of thermal insulation of a detached house and choice optimization of insulating materials especially based on economic and ecologic factors. The thesis describes basic physical effects that are associated with heat transfer and that should be respected in insulation design. These effects influence the choice of suitable insulating materials based on their properties.

In the theoretical part it deals with specification of basic terms from the domain of building lifespan, calculation of financial costs and investment decision-making. In the practical part it judges contract cost of reconstruction, lowering the costs of heating by technical changes of construction and also return of investment in different forms.
The impact of executing new thermal insulation on a apartment building on the expenses associated with its operation

The topic of the diploma thesis „The impact of executing new thermal insulation on a apartment building on the expenses associated with its operation “ is a draft and appraisal of four variants of thermal insulation of the building. The thesis deals with the assessment of the current proposal for apartment building envelopes along with proposing alternative plans with emphasis on reducing heating costs. The first section describes the types of buildings according to heating demand and a list of different variants of thermal insulation materials. The second part is devoted to a specific apartment building in the Ústí nad Labem for which there are designed in four variants of insulation. The work includes thermal assessment in original condition and the assessment of new condition modified by adding thermal insulation. Through research will bedetermined price of implementation of proposed insulation options together with the costs of operation of the apartment building. In conclusion, the diploma thesis evaluates the payback period of insulation.
Design of a drying device for wood-processing industry

The thesis considers a stabilization of temperature of a wood fiber during production of medium close fibre boards MDF in a wood-processing industry. The original purpose to solve energetic optimalization of a kiln dryer has become a serious problem. It turned out that production suffers with a big heat loss which results in big heat loss gained during a kiln drying. Primary aim of this thesis is an examination of a cooling effect of environment on chosen parts of a production line and suggestion of acceptable proceeding to minimize heat loss and to rise temperature of the wood fiber to required temperature. Solution is aimed on the section of a production line between drying equipment and press. First part of the thesis introduces technology of production of fibre boards, introduction to heat transfer problems and also basics of computer modeling of heat flow and transfer using CFD simulation. The next part includes an evaluation of the heat loss of chosen parts of the production line in a current working condition and its comparison with computer simulations. Verification of accuracy of the results while using both approaches to solution is a first step to the improvement of the current situation. It is possible to use the verified calculation model for the following solution of effects on convective and radiation heating of a wood fiber layer. An important factor in the last period of a calculation is a real temperature of the fiber board-mat at the entrance to a press. The higher entering temperature in a set temperature range is reached, the lower time needed for pressing will be and simultaneously the whole industrial process will be cut short. The solution of a problem leads to an achievement of an energy saving and should become a solid basis from which it would be possible to evaluate an improvement of production of MDF boards. The conclusion of the thesis includes an analysis of findings which refers to a heating of wood fiber and it’s effectiveness for a practical use.
HVAC systems of hospital - Ecodesign 2018

The subject of this diploma thesis is a review of legislation about ecodesign, the design of air conditioning systems for hospital departments and analysis of energy consumption of air conditioning systems designed before and after ecodesign 2018. The thesis is divided into three parts. The theoretical part deals with research of ecodesign legislation (especially EU Commission Regulation No. 1253/2014) and air conditioning in health care facilities. In the second part design of two air-conditioning systems serving the hospital's traumatology department was realized at the level of documentation for building permission. The third part contains calculations and assessments of expected consumption of electric and thermal energy, comparison of units before and after ecodesign and evaluation of annual operating costs.

Glazed Balcony as Preheater of Ventilation Air - Parametric Study

This thesis deals with the influence of balcony glazing to preheat ventilation air. In the first part there are described the ways of passive use of sun radiation and types of ventilation of flats. THESEUS-FE 4.0 is used as a simulation program, for which heat transfer is described. The second part contains description of flat and selected case simulation, followed by a geometric model and description of boundary conditions. Finnaly is done evaluation of case simulations not only in therms of savings in ventilation, but also for heat loss as a whole.
Exploiting Approximate Arithmetic Circuits in Neural Networks Inference

Táto práca sa zaoberá využitím aproximovaných obvodov v neurónových sieťach so zámerom prínosu energetických úspor. K tejto téme už existujú štúdie, avšak väčšina z nich bola príliš špecifická k aplikácii alebo bola demonštrovaná v malom rozsahu. Pre dodatočné preskúmanie možností sme preto skrz netriviálne modifikácie open-source frameworku TensorFlow vytvorili platformu umožňujúcu simulovať používanie approximovaných obvodov na populárnych a robustných neurónových sieťach ako Inception alebo MobileNet. Bodom záujmu bolo nahradenie väčšiny výpočtovo náročných častí konvolučných neurónových sietí, ktorými sú konkrétne operácie násobenia v konvolučnách vrstvách. Experimentálne sme ukázali a porovnávali rozličné varianty a aj napriek tomu, že sme postupovali bez preučenia siete sa nám podarilo získať zaujímavé výsledky. Napríklad pri architektúre Inception v4 sme získali takmer 8% úspor, pričom nedošlo k žiadnemu poklesu presnosti. Táto úspora vie rozhodne nájsť uplatnenie v mobilných zariadeniach alebo pri veľkých neurónových sieťach s enormnými výpočtovými nárokmi.
